Let's be fair on ourselves ..I'm not based in US...I will lend my voice by saying #BlackLivesMatter - SLK

Nigerian celebrities have joined the USA #BlackLivesMatter campaign however some Nigerians feel that it is not necessary to join the campaign....
A Nigerian even fired back at celebrities and said: "Nigerians especially celebs should fix their home country first before posting blacklivematters all over social media.”

Nigerian comedian SLK posted a screenshot of the ordeal and wrote on his Instagram page:

"Nigerians generally have a habit of being over critical or over analytical when it comes to our stuff. Movies, music, government, lifestyle etc. For example... Someone comes from nowhere in a foreign movie and shoots the bad guy and we applaud it...same thing happens in a Nigerian movie we start analysing "chei nollywood! Where did that guy come from..who gave him gun? How did he know how to use a gun?"

That's exactly what's playing out here. We were all happy when celebrities around the world joined the #bringbackOurGirls campaign. E sweet us dat year!! Now our celebs are lending their voices to what I think is a global menace...all hell is let lose. If they did not talk now...we will say no wonder they are not internationally recognized.. Local minded pipu.

In fairness to our celebrities...they are always very vocal about our local problems too...but Nigerians will forget na..... since we don't know more than to criticise our celebs. We forget how @officialwaje and other celebs spoke on the Ese saga... Or was Wives On Strike not a film produced by a Nigerian. The movie DRY nko...is that not our problem too.. Ohh @official2baba's vote not fight.. Was that an American problem too.

My point is...let's cut Nigeria and Nigerians some slack....let's be fair on ourselves....
I don't have a child and I'm not based in the US but I will lend my voice by saying #BlackLivesMatter..... #SLKSpeaks #StopTheKilling #GoodEvening."
