A Rivers State APC stalwart dies after tree falls on vehicle

Yesterday there was a heavy rainfall in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. Due to the heavy down pour most areas of Port Harcourt was flooded which led to serious traffic jam in major roads of the garden city.

That same yesterday the Rivers State Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Emeka Beke was accompanied by a stalwart of APC, Ferdinand Ovundah and other occupants in his Toyota Hilux  on his way to the Rivers secretariat of APC which is located on Forces Avenue, Old Government Reservation Area (GRA), Port Harcourt.

On transit at about 10am, a big tree fell on the Hilux truck as they were passing the road by the residence of the former First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, and the Port Harcourt Club.

The occupants of the vehicle were seriously injured and rushed to the nearest hospital which is Braithwaite Memorial Specialist Hospital (BMSH), but due to lack of proper medical facilities, they were later moved to better equipped private hospitals.

It was a sad turnout when the Rivers Publicity Secretaty of APC, Chief Chris Finebone broke the news this evening that Ovundah was confirmed dead, describing it as very pathetic and so unfortunate.

Beke who was at the Rivers secretariat of APC with swollen face, expressed sadness over the death of Ovundah.
