A staff welcomed an ex student of the school who introduced the Recycle Port Harcourt City team, then Thank God a member of Recycle PHC hosted the event. Afterwards, the Vice President of Recycle PHC Richard, explained the activities, vision and mission of Recycle PHC.

Queen Princess Princewill a beauty queen, spoke on limitation. She asked the students what limitation meant, some students responded saying obstruction, boundary and challenge trying to stop us.

Queen Princess Princewill said: It is an act that limits our boundaries. She encouraged the students to live their dreams, stating that if they have a passion for something, they should go for it. She also emphasized that they should believe in their self and dreams, also they should keep their environment clean just as God said cleanliness is next to godliness.

Interactive session:

Thank God the host of the event asked about the students dreams: one of the students showed interest in Automobile engineering while another preffered to be a Medical Doctor.

Then he said he came with a dream to take care of our environment, and asked what they understand by the word environment. They answered and said that it means our surroundings.

The students were informed that the World Environment Day will come up on Tuesday the 5th of June with the theme: Beat Plastic pollution.

The students were enlightened on plastic and nylon bags usage. They learnt that plastics and nylon bags do not easily decompose. It was stated that a single plastic can take over 500 years to decompose, which means its very hard for it to decompose.

The students were told the formula to beat plastic pollution, see them below:

Reduce

Reuse

Recycle

For example, you are to utilize a single nylon for shopping if necessary. Also bottled water usage can be reduced via using water bottle.

Use a nylon bag from your house for shopping: Reusing

A broken plastic chair can be amended instead of buying a new one.

If you cannot reduce or reuse, then the plastics can be sent to be recycled by melting them and making a new product out of them.

An inter-school competition championed by Recycle PHC called the Art Attack was explained, which involves the students using recyclable materials preferably plastics, to create amazing artworks.
