There Is A Big Problem When The International Community Praises A Bloody Nigerian Election
The 2019 Nigerian Presidential and National Assembly elections were very violent with reports of mass murder orchestrated by the Nigerian military in the Southern region of Nigeria while leaving the Northern part peaceful.
It was so disheartening to note that the Nigerian Army disrupted the elections after the sitting president Muhammadu Buhari gave a shoot on sight order for ballot box snatchers.
The Nigerian military however were accused by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) personnels of instigating violence that led to the loss of lives on Saturday 23rd February 2019.
Over 50 people died at the elections in Nigeria. People also died in Rivers State in places like Abonnema, Emuohua, Bonny and it's environs. Elections did not hold in Bonny due to the uprise. Dead bodies were floating on the water in Abonnema days after the election. A top female INEC official died after she was hit by a stray bullet.
It is disheartening to know that the international media consisting of international observers and New York Times regarded the election as peaceful which is a referendum of honesty.
