Tech giant Apple well known for its popular products: personal computer, iPod, iPhone and iPad has received a permit in the biggest state in the US to move on with the testing of self driving cars.

There have been
media reports that Apple has been secretly working on self driving cars
autonomous technology under the project name “Titan”, but Apple did not
disclose its involvement in it. Even with the report that the California
Department of Motor Vehicles on Friday the 14 of April 2017 granted Apple the
permit to test self driving cars, Apple is yet to confirm their involvement in
it.
The
tech giant will be allowed to test autonomous driving technology on public
roads in three 2015 Lexus RX 450h luxury hybrid sport utility vehicles (SUVs),
with the authorization of six drivers to take control of the cars in case
anything goes wrong. With Apple utilizing the Lexus in the testing of the self
driving cars, it shows that Apple may not have the intention of building self
driving cars, but rather will be more involved in the technology aspect.
There
is a great competition in the emergence of self driving cars technology. With
Apple joining at this period when the field is already crowded, there is no
doubt that Apple will breakthrough and become number one, just as they did with
the personal computer, iPod, iPhone, and iPad when they were not the first to
begin the manufacturing process.
With the recent development of self driving cars, do you think that there will be a future for vehicle drivers?
