China pressures Honda to sell more electric cars as it plans for 2018
China seems to be at the point where they want to clean up their airspace and rely solely on renewable energy. The hazardous and choking air pollution in major Chinese cities has created the desire to clean the air by increasing the number of zero emission vehicles.
While other countries are not too keen on using
electric cars, especially African countries, the Chinese have insisted that
more electric cars should be sold to their market.
It is alarming that renewable energy is still taken
for granted in Africa, even as the world marked the Earth Day on the 22nd of April,
and exhaust pipes on cars are not seen as morally wrong even as the People’s
Climate Mobilization comes up on April 29.
In recent reports, it has been understood that China
is putting pressure on automobile giant Toyota, to sell more electric cars than
fuel powered cars.
Apparently fellow Japanese automobile company Honda,
are experiencing the same thing as they have joined the band wagon to sell more
electric cars in China.
During the Shanghai auto show, Honda’s unit in China
revealed that the launching of electric car will be possible next year, however
plug-in hybrid vehicles will be introduced into the market after the electric
car debut.
One of the challenges that China will most likely
face as they insist in the increase of electric car sale, is the parking spots
for the vehicles to recharge.
The Chinese are making serious efforts to utilize
renewable clean energy and reduce emissions, as they recently halted the construction
of about 100 coal power plants.
At what point in time will Nigeria be ready to
embrace renewable clean energy, and ditch the crude oil for good?
