Can water be a significant factor to add in electric car battery for increase in speed?
Electric cars development which has become on e of the most common research in automobiles is moving to greater stages. Electric cars do not possess the qualities and good performance and speed, unlike petrol and diesel powered vehicles.
Batteries are used to run electric cars, however the
cars can only cover a lesser distance that will require recharging compared to
petrol and diesel powered cars.
Researchers at North Carolina State University in
the United States are of the opinion that water may hold the key to faster
electric cars.
An experiment with two materials, a crystalline
tungsten oxide and a layered, crystalline tungsten oxide hydrate, which
consists of crystalline tungsten oxide layers separated by atomically thin
layers of water, was conducted. The hydrate stored the energy more efficiently
when each material was charged for about 12 seconds and the heat was reduced.
The result means that the use of water as a tuner
may assist in the slimming down of the batteries, which will in turn allow for
greater storage in smaller units.
If the experiment is successful, what will be left
to do is to test it with an electric car, and see if there will be a increase
in the performance of the electric car and speed as well.
With the ongoing research, it seems very soon there
might be a possibility that cars will be able to be powered by water. What are your thoughts?
