Mercedes Benz is collaborating with Google and Amazon to make car functionality easier. Voice activation to start a car has already been developed, however with the help of the home digital assistants, and the “Mercedes Me” function, you can start your car remotely from outside the car by saying “OK, Google, tell Mercedes Me to start my car,” and your car will start.

The Mercedes Benz customers that can enjoy this new package are the owners of the 2016 and 2017 models, who are based in the United States. Other functionalities that this artificial intelligence package includes: locking of the vehicle remotely, search for an address and send same to the navigation system of the car.

For Mercedes customers to access this package, all they need to do is to download the Google Home or Amazon Alexa apps and connect their Mercedes ME accounts, a package of services that gives Mercedes owner’s access to their cars through the medium of a Smartphone app.

Subsequently, other functions that will be added include trip planning, electronic reminders, which can give a voice prompt or pop up notification on the infotainment screen, opening of garage from the car, adjusting of home temperature and even switching on the home lights, which is gradually leading to an electronic assistant, meaning there might not be need for a personal assistant.
