The Signal Shield concept to prevent phone usage while driving
More often, drivers experience distractions such as text messages, phone calls, and internet notifications from their mobile devices while driving.
When a driver looks into the mobile phone for a text message
or notification, a distraction which keeps the driver’s eyes off the road lasts
for about 3 seconds, which can lead to an accident.
Nissan has come up with a concept that can prevent the use
of the driver’s mobile phone while driving, which is called the signal shield.
The signal shield prototype is tested in a Nissan Juke,
located in the armrest compartment, along with a Faraday cage, which blocks all
incoming phone, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi signals, just by placing the phone in the
signal shield without the need of turning off the device.
However for those who want to use their device to listen to
music, the signal shield will not affect that aspect, as the wired connections
and auxiliary ports will still function.
Will you subscribe to this kind of technology?
